Thrust Carbon, the leading provider of sustainable software solutions for the travel industry, announces that its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data is integrated into the evolution of Concur Travel from SAP Concur, the world’s leading brand for integrated travel, expense, and invoice management. Now, users of the replatformed Concur Travel can further consider the environmental impacts of their booking choices as they can view and sort the GHG emissions of each flight segment, as well as rail and car rental options, and browse hotel providers by emissions, certifications, and sustainability scores.

As cited in the SAP Concur 2023 Global Business Travel Managers Report, “Nearly all travel managers (98%) anticipate company travel policy changes in the next 12 months,” heavily influenced by the obligation to comply with internal and external sustainability goals. Additionally, the report notes ”38% of travel managers say lagging data and analytics hinder their ability to report on the company’s travel emissions.”

Kit Aspen and Mark Corbett, Founders of Thrust Carbon, have lived and breathed this approach since opening their doors in 2019. Corbett is adamant that “travel buyers simply cannot deliver emissions compliance if they cannot show the traveler their emissions. This integration makes that possible for an overwhelming majority of the market without resorting to third-party workarounds.”

This sentiment is echoed by Thrust Carbon’s impressive client roster, which includes Novartis, S&P Global, and Toyota, and a host of travel management companies. SAP Concur found that “travel managers are operating under growing pressure for transparency as they face evolving industry regulations and increasing demand from both internal and external sources to minimize the environmental impacts of their corporate travel.” Not only that, 65% of GBTA members agree quantifying emission reduction opportunities is the most challenging aspect of addressing sustainability

According to Aspen, “this partnership will usher in a new standard for quality and accessibility of emissions data at point of search. The more accessible the data, the better the travel decisions, and the more comprehensive the reporting.”

After launching Thrust Carbon for Concur Travel in the SAP Concur App Center in March 2021, the growth of this relationship demonstrates a shared commitment to help the travel industry drive towards net zero.
