Emissions API

Thrust API brings high-fidelity carbon emissions calculations directly into your booking tools and internal systems.

Illustrative example: a flight journey goes into the Thrust Carbon Emissions API and an emissions result comes out

Your systems

  • Data warehouse
  • BI dashboards
  • ESG reporting platform
  • Finance systems
  • Automated calculations

Emissions arrive automatically alongside your other data, rather than in spreadsheets downloaded from another tool.

  • Numbers that match

Every trip, from every source, calculated with the same assured methodology, so your numbers match wherever they appear.

  • Ready for reporting

Break emissions down by cost centre, department, project or any field you track, so they slot into existing reports.

Supporting a variety of travel emissions methodologies

Our travel emissions API supports the methodology that you have selected for your reporting.

  1. ICAO+

    Fuel-based

Thrust Carbon's fuel-based method for business travel.

Based on aircraft type, load factor and cabin class

  2. Google Travel Impact Model

    Fuel-based

From Google, governed by an expert advisory committee and endorsed by Travalyst.

    Based on per-flight, per-cabin modelling

  3. IATA CO2 Connect

    Fuel-based

Built on real airline operational and fuel-burn data.

    Based on airline operational data

  4. Thrust spend methodologies

    Spend-based

For trips where spend is the only data you have, across all travel modes.

Based on travel and expense spend

  5. More methodologies available across different transport modes

Emissions API questions

What is an emissions API?

An emissions API lets your systems send travel data, such as a flight, train journey or hotel stay, and get back a calculated greenhouse gas figure in CO₂e. You can then use that figure in your own reporting without building your own model.

Can we get emissions data into our data warehouse or BI tool?

Yes. That's what the API is for. Results arrive as structured data that your team can load into your warehouse, dashboards or reporting platform alongside the rest of your data.

Which types of travel does the Thrust Carbon API cover?

Flights, rail, hotels and car hire, plus other travel and expense categories.

Which methodologies can I use?

ICAO+, Google's Travel Impact Model, IATA CO2 Connect and Thrust spend methodologies. You can choose the method that fits your reporting.

What if my booking data is incomplete?

That's normal. Send whatever you have and the API enriches the journey and fills the gaps, so every trip gets a result.

Can I use API results for Scope 3 Category 6 or CSRD reporting?

Yes. Our methodology is assured to ISO 14083, and every calculation is traceable. Read more about Scope 3 Category 6.

Why might the API give a different number from Google Flights?

Different methodologies make different assumptions. What a flight emissions estimate really means.

How do I get access?
