Since our partnership began, I have had the pleasure of working very closely with SAP Concur to provide sustainability data to their vast network of travelers. I'm especially thrilled now because the new Concur Travel has just become the first online booking tool (OBT) to integrate emissions calculations assured to the globally-recognized ISO 14083 standard. This achievement represents a truly sustainable shift in business travel.
A milestone for the industry
The introduction of ISO 14083 in 2023 was a major milestone for emissions reporting, and climate policy more broadly. The standard has already been endorsed by the EU ahead of their Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and sets the stage for a massive global push toward net-zero. For too long, businesses struggled with inconsistent rules and definitions of key emissions reporting variables, undermining larger progress toward sustainability goals. ISO 14083 provides a standardized global framework for emissions calculations across all transportation modes, including air, rail, car, and freight. By adopting this globally-recognized standard, businesses can now rely on consistent, comparable and precise data to guide their sustainability strategies. With this integration into Concur Travel, we’re not only vastly increasing the accessibility of the highest quality emissions data, but also empowering organizations to stay ahead and well-positioned for evolving regulations and stakeholder expectations.

What it means for Concur users
This achievement also marks the first appearance of IS0 14083-assured emission numbers displayed at the point of search in an OBT. This ensures that travelers and decision-makers have access to accurate, credible data right when they need it most—as they select their travel options. By integrating emissions calculations directly into the booking process, businesses can confidently evaluate the environmental impact of each trip and choose more sustainable options. It not only simplifies decision-making but also helps companies take actionable steps toward achieving their sustainability objectives while enhancing transparency for their stakeholders.
Our ISO 14083 story
